The No Wires Initiative transforms your workspace into a zone of effortless mobility. Drop your device at any desk — no cables, no hassle, just instant power and productivity.

Work anywhere. Charge everywhere. No wires, all progress.

At Dell, I spearheaded the design of a fully wireless workspace, creating a charging pad and dock that seamlessly aligned with the Latitude series aesthetic.

Dell: No Wires Initiative

Wireless Mat Development

Optimized

Swappable

Adjustable

I was tasked with solving the challenge of aligning the system precisely with the charging mat’s wireless coil. To address this, I developed three distinct design directions.

  • Optimizing the mat to the laptop and standardize the placement of the charging coil within the system

  • Swapping the outer perimeter of the mat to match any size system.

  • Build an adjustment mechanism into the mat to be configured for any system.

Design

Leather and other fabrics were used to soften the design. We were inspired by vintage writing desks and the then emerging trends of fabric wrapped electronics.

Wireless Dock Development

Below is a small selection of the first round of concepts I created to begin the design process. These designs were heavily influenced by the design language of classic Dell products like the existing dock and charging brick but with subtle variations to add some visual interest.

Unfortunately the concept of No Wires as a working style was quickly overtaken by the pandemic and most workers shifting to working from home.
